Introduction
babyarabia Maternity covers pre-conception, pregnancy, birth, postpartum and the baby's first year. It combines learning, training, expert questions, video consultations and a maternity health record.
Roles
Each user has one or more roles. Roles are stored separately from profiles so a user can never grant themselves access. "Consultant" in the app means a physician or allied professional.
- Patient (
patient): The mother, or a woman planning a pregnancy. - Physician (
physician): Licensed OB/GYN, paediatrician or family doctor. - Allied prof. (
allied_professional): Midwife, lactation consultant, dietitian, physio, psychologist, paediatric nurse. - Family (
family_member): Invited by the patient; sees only what she shares. - Admin (
admin): Platform operations: users, content, payments. - Clinical admin (
clinical_admin): Medical director: credentialing, content approval, quality.
Permissions
The permission matrix decides what each role can do. Every cell is one of:
- Allow: always permitted.
- Conditional: permitted only when the written condition is met (for example an active care relationship).
- Deny: never permitted.
Admins edit the matrix on the Permissions page. Click a cell to change it; conditional cells ask for the rule. Use "Reset to defaults" to restore the original matrix below.

Open another person's chart. Every read is written to the audit log.

Care relationships
A care relationship exists when a patient books, messages, or explicitly shares her record with a consultant. Consultants can only open a chart while that relationship is active. The patient can revoke it at any time from her Privacy screen. Every read or write of clinical data is recorded in the audit log.
Patient dashboard
The dashboard summarises the signed-in patient's own record: an allergy alert, counts, latest vitals, medications, immunizations, upcoming consultations and a timeline. Only the patient can see her rows. "Export FHIR R4" downloads the record as a FHIR Bundle; each category maps to a resource:
- history → Condition, allergy → AllergyIntolerance, medication → MedicationStatement
- immunization → Immunization, vitals and note → Observation
Video library
Curated videos grouped by category. Admins and clinical admins add videos by pasting a YouTube, Vimeo or direct .mp4 link; other links open in a new tab. Everyone signed in can watch.
AI copilot and AI Studio
The copilot button (bottom corner, signed-in users) opens a chat that can read the user's own health record, consultations and questions to give personalised, educational help. The conversation is kept only for the browser session. It never diagnoses or prescribes and points to urgent care for warning signs.
AI Studio drafts an education article, a course outline or a skills-lab checklist (steps, safety tips and a short quiz) from a topic, phase, week and level. Anyone signed in can generate; only admins and clinical admins can save. Articles are saved to Learn with status draft for clinical review; courses and skills go to Train.
AI usage draws on the workspace's AI allowance. When credits run out the app shows a message instead of an answer.
